Peek at the Week

Hi beautiful friends. I hope you all had an amazing and productive week:) I got a ton of things done today and I’m feeling extremely prepared for next week…which is a first! I still have copies to make since I didn’t go in to school this weekend, but I’ve got everything else ready to go. I also spent A LOT of time today meal prepping, and cleaning. Getting all caught up on laundry and other household chores really helps me feel “READY” for the week. Are you like this?! I lesson planned yesterday which meant I had all of today to focus on cleaning and other random tasks that needed to get done.

Katie and have our 8 week fitness challenge starting next Monday, October 1st so we’ve been really busy preparing for that. We are working on all the workouts and calculating macros for our girls, as well as getting the private FB group set up. If you still want to join, there is still room! It won’t last long though so email me at TeachersGoneStrong@gmail.com and let me know asap. OR you can click this link to fill out the application form. https://www.facebook.com/groups/562337744219811/

Other than that, this last week was ROUGH. I’m still dealing with a lot of behavior issues in my classroom and that is has been really stressful. I decided to take out the teepee in my classroom, as well as my extra rolling carts that were full of supplies. The teepee got ruined and was becoming a huge distraction, and so were the supply bins. Instead of continuing to be stressed out about it, I just removed them from my classroom. I also took out the pillows I had in my room. Until we can control ourselves more, they had to be taken away for now. I hope I can bring them back soon because I really want my classroom to be a comfortable place. It makes me sad to do this but I have to think about whats best for ALL of my kids.

In other news…I got so tired of my thirty one bag falling over in my car this week that I decided to buy a new teacher bag. I asked my lovely friends on IG and a ton of people said Vera Bradley. I needed it to be big enough to fit my laptop in it plus #allthethings so this is what I got! It will be here Wednesday and I can’t wait! I’ll give you a full review later!

I also got sick and had no voice all week. Trying to teach kindergarten with no voice is HARD lol. I’m finally starting to feel better, but without Mucinex I don’t think I would be writing this right now…haha. We started learning about apples (we’re making homemade applesauce this week!!) and they really enjoyed making our apple crafts. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures of them but they look adorable in the hall! We are also getting really good at math rotations. We are going to practice more than one rotation a day this week, so I’ll keep you updated on how that goes next week!

The best part of my week…I came home to one of my former student’s parents messaging me the pictures below. This totally turned my week around and it just goes to show, when you don’t think you’re making a difference…YOU ARE. This year has been really hard for me and I feel like I’ve constantly been feeling like I’m not doing enough. To see these pictures made my heart BURST. My former student, who I taught in 1st and 2nd grade, LOVED school and wants to be a teacher when she grows up. When I moved, she was also moving to Germany. Since I was changing classroom themes- I gave her a lot of my old stuff. Unlike most kids who would decorate their bedroom with their favorite tv show/movie or unicorns/princesses, she decorated it as a classroom. #cuethetears

So I don’t really have much else to say other than that if you’re feeling uninspired or that you can’t keep up this year…just remember to breathe. You are doing a great job and your kids are so lucky to have you as their teacher! The world needs more teachers like you and k e e p going. Even when you don’t feel like it. Keep giving 110% and I promise, it will pay off.

Next week I will have a lot more fun activities to share so stay tuned!!

xoxo,

Brooklyn
